His Grace Bishop Nektarije with the Newly-Ordained Hiermonk Nicandor with the Clergy and Altar Servers of Uteshiteljevo |
On the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent, April 6 NS/24 March OS, Monk Nicandor (Parvulescu) was ordained a hieromonk. The previous day, on Saturday, he had been ordained a hierodeacon. The ordinations were officiated by His Grace Bishop Nektarije.
Father Nicandor was born in Madrid in 1960 to Jean Parvulescu, a French-Romanian writer (a follower of the thoughts of René Guénon and Julius Evola) and mother Countess Madeleine Senac de Meilhan.
The newly-ordained monk Nicanor has been appointed as a priest of the newly established parish of Saint Martin of Tours in the town of Rouans, located in the western French region of the Vendée, famous for the counter-revolution (1793-1800), about 200 km from Paris and just thirty kilometers from the Atlantic port of Nantes.
The parish is under the jurisdiction of the Western European Mission of the historical monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia - Lesna (Normandy). It was founded through the missionary efforts of Father Romaric (d'Amico), the parish priest of the Parisian French True Orthodox Parish (seeYouTube channel here) of Saint Clotilde (Frankish queen, 6th century), which is also part of the Lesna Mission. The Saint Clotilde Parish in Paris has around fifty believers. Like the Parisian parish, the Rouans parish is composed of French converts from Roman Catholicism to true Orthodoxy and currently has 12 believers.
The Western European Mission of the Convent of Our Lady of Lesna, as well as the convent itself, are under the omophorion of Bishop Akakije of Uteshiteljevo.
To the newly-ordained Hieromonk Nicandor: Axios! Worthy!
